Peer-to-peer dissemination of agricultural information is a critical channel for farmer learning in Ghana. Farmers often rely on peers rather than formal extension services to access information about inputs, markets, and practices. Understanding the factors driving peer dissemination is essential for designing effective information systems. The broader challenge is that formal extension services are often under-resourced, leaving gaps in information delivery. Peer networks fill this gap, but dissemination is uneven and influenced by social, economic, and cultural factors. This study situates peer dissemination within the broader discourse on agricultural knowledge systems.

Peer-to-peer dissemination of agricultural information is a critical channel for farmer learning in Ghana. Research Approach

Farmer survey data was collected to capture information dissemination patterns. Econometric models were applied to measure the factors influencing peer dissemination, including education, social networks, and access to ICT. Qualitative interviews provided insights into farmer motivations for sharing information. Comparative analysis was conducted across regions to capture heterogeneity in dissemination patterns. This dual approach ensured findings were both statistically rigorous and contextually grounded.
